Families in New South Wales can access additional subsidies to help with preschool costs. The NSW Government provides fee relief for children enrolled in eligible long day care services, which is in addition to the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
What is it?
The NSW Government offers funding to subsidise preschool costs for three-year-old and four-year-old children in long day care settings. In 2025, families may save up to $2,174 per year for eligible children aged four and above, and up to $515 per year for eligible three-year-olds.
Who is eligible?
To qualify for the fee relief:
- Your child must turn four years old on or before 31 July 2025 and be enrolled in a preschool program at an eligible long day care service.
- If your child is three years old and not yet four on or before 31 July 2025, and is enrolled at an eligible long day care service, you may receive up to $515 in fee relief.
How does it work?
The subsidy is provided as a set dollar amount and is spread over 50 weeks of the year. This funding helps lower your out-of-pocket costs by:
- Up to $43.48 per week for children who turn four years old on or before 31 July 2025.
- Up to $10.30 per week for children who are three years old and not yet four on or before 31 July 2025.
Families need to nominate one childcare service to receive the subsidy, and the discount will be applied directly to their fees. This will be reflected in your centre’s fee statements.
